  Khadi workers to get solar charkas

The Hindu SRIKAKULAM Chairperson of Khadi and Village Industries Commission and former Governor Kumudben Joshi has said women working on spinning wheels will be provided solar charkas Training will also be given on the newly invented solar wheels She was speaking at Spoorti programme organized at Grama Swarajya Sangham which she inaugurated on Tuesday She said self-help groups for women working on charkas would be formed if the KVIP officials work in coordination with the local authorities In her interaction with women she wanted them to showcase their products in the stalls being arranged for marketing by KVIC The fine Ponduru khadi has been famous all over the world but is going through a tough phase She recalled the visit of Mahatma Gandhi to the region Ms Kumudben Joshi said the Centrally sponsored Prime Minister Employment Generation Scheme was providing good employment opportunities to the youth With a subsidy of 30 to 35 per cent loans ranging from Rs1 lakh to Rs 25 lakhs were being extended KVIP south zone member KC Kalappa director SN Sukla Deputy Director RK Chowdary Lead District Manager Ch Rajaramohan Roy State Director K Mohana Rao RDO Nakka Satyanarayana and DRDA Project Director Rajanikanta Rao participated.
